                              Twilight Whackers

It's hard to believe we have finished another year of TW golf.  We had a great tournament yesterday with 42 members / guests out to challenge the mighty Falconridge.  The weather turned out great after a few holes of showers!

For the record here is how your team stacked up in the tournament.

(-9)  Joey Barrett, Mike Pion, John Burke, Lou Ravalico (No surprise here! - shot a 29 on the back nine including 2 birdies on the front nine and 7 on the back - WOW!)

(-5)  Scott Harrison, Dave Bedard, Phil Martel, Lenard Broadhead (5 birdies, no bogies)

(-5)  Dave Mitchell, Bernie Livingstone, George Mitchell, Mitch Mitchell ( A personal best for the team! Bernie was driving like he was on the Tour! 6 birdies, 1 bogey)

(-4)  Dave Bekkers, Beni Colasante, Robey Mascioli, Stino Bueti (They started first so probably lost 3 strokes due to the weather (ha!) - 4 birds, no bogies)

(-2)  Tony Dilana, Tony Idone, Dave Itenson (5 birdies, 3 bogies)

(-1)  Francis Hawco, Rene Frigault, Charlie Jessome, Frank Dangelo (3 birds, 2 bogies)

(-1)  Greg Spratt, Steve Roberts, Will Stacey, Ross Rankin (Ross took lessons this year so must have carried the team - 2 birds, 1 bogey)

(E)   Dan Prezeau, Bob Beardsell, Ray Cardinal, Ron Geroux (not bad considering Ken couldn't attend - 3 birdies, 3 bogies - Ron came out of retirement for the occasion!)

(E)   Steve Patterson, Andrew Stevenson, Peter Monaghan (2 birdies, 2 bogies, 14 Canary's)

(+1)  Mike Weeks, Rick Stappert, Peter Horn, Robb Van Diermen (3 birdies, 2 bogies and a double - Robb has new clubs so it wasn't his fault!)

(+10)  Bruce Coffin, Francois Belanger, Simon Worswick, Stephan Sandar (Colin, sign these guys up for lessons next year! - 1 birdie, 7 bogies and 2 doubles)

Congratulations to Dan Prezeau who won the 50/50 jackpot of $167.  He split the take with Tracy and her crew.  Thanks to everyone for their support of the 50/50 draws this year!

Thanks to Tracy and the ladies of Falconridge for their great service again this year!  Hope to see you all back in the spring!

The Longest drive on # 6 went to Lou Ravalico.

Furthest from the pin on # 9 went to Len Broadhead.  (Sorry for the confusion!  Seems half the players kept moving the marker closer to the hole!  Len said his was nearly off the green, so he deserved the honour.  Great to see you back Len!)

Closest to the pin on # 14 went to David Itenson.

Closest to the stick on #8 was won by Beni Colasante. (Beni said his drive was about 250 yards.  That's good because mine was further!)

Housekeeping: We have been asked by the club (Tracy) to advise the following:

1) We are not allowed to bring alcohol onto the course.  The club could lose it's liquor license.  Please purchase your drinks from the bar cart.
2) If you are not staying for supper, please call and inform the club at 822-6742 by noon each Monday.
3) If you are staying for supper, please pay for your $10 meal ticket before you golf.
4) Suggestions are always welcome!

The scoring system we are using is 1 point for a bogey, 2 points for a par, 3 points for a birdie and 4 points for an eagle.

Upcoming Events: (free advertising for your event!)

League Perks:
Don't forget that as a league member, you are entitled to a large bucket of range balls each Monday. If you don't have time to warm up before your game, ask for a free bucket of balls coupon when you check in and come back another time to practice. Golf carts on league nights are $12 per cart. We’ll also receive a 20% discount on pro shop items on Monday nights. So why not wait to make your golf purchases at the club on Monday nights and help our club grow. And of course it's a perk to be served by Tracy and the Raceview Girls!
Golf Etiquette:

Please make an extra effort to fix your pitch marks on the greens. It’s a good practice to fix your ball mark and at least one more, even if it wasn’t yours. Please leave the course in better shape than when you started. Ball mark repair tools are available free of charge at the club house if you need one. Please waive faster groups through to keep things moving, especially if you have a clear hole in front of you. Remember that Range Balls are only to be used on the driving range. Keep all carts away from greens, tees and bunkers.

League Rules: (to speed up play)

The penalty for going “Out of Bounds” during league play is 1 stroke and you get to keep your distance. Drop your ball within 2 club lengths of where your ball last crossed the fairway and fire away. The maximum score on a hole is double par. If you reach that number, please pick up your ball. Remember for team scoring purposes, you don’t get any points for scores over bogey. Limit time looking for lost golf balls to 1-2 minutes. You can use the red tees if you prefer at any time. This includes the long drive and closest to the pin holes as well.

Spare Policy:

If you can't golf on a given Monday, please arrange for a spare to come out. Your spare will pay you directly because you have already prepaid for the round. Please advise your spare to check in at the pro shop to pay for their dinner before teeing off. If they can't make dinner, the clubhouse should be advised ( at 822-6742 ) by Monday at noon so they can budget the proper amount of food for the night. If you know of anyone who would like to be added to the spares list or play regularly please email Dave Mitchell or any of your executive.

Upcoming Events: (free advertising for your event)

This Thursday July 20 we will be hosting our 4th group lesson. This week’s focus is on pitching. These are the scoring clubs. Come on out at 6:30pm and learn how to reduce your score dramatically. The cost is only $10 which includes a bucket of balls. Everyone is welcome.
