TWILIGHT WHACKERS NEWSLETTER

Attention all Twilight Whackers,

Here are our year end tournament details.

Please review the following flyer and respond to david.mitchell@rogers.com with the names of your foursome that will be entering the tournament. The expectation is that most teams will be made up of their regular season foursomes.   Guests are welcome.  If you don’t have a foursome, don’t worry, we’ll try to make one for you.

Tournament Date: Saturday, Sept 15, 2007

Time: Registration starts at 9:30 am

Course: Falconridge

First T-Off:    10:30 am and every 10 minutes thereafter until we are finished.  We estimate there will be approximately 13 foursomes.

Cost:   The tournament is free for Twilight Whackers since everyone paid their $70 membership fee.  Guests will pay $70.  If you can’t attend the Tournament, you can ask a guest to spare for you.  In this case, if your guest is sparing for you because you cannot make it, your guest will pay $20 and the league will pay the remaining $50 towards your guest’s fees.

Power Carts: Included

Bucket of Balls: You are entitled to a warm up bucket of balls after you register.

Dinner: Steak Dinner to follow at approximately 5:30 pm.

Prizes: Prize presentations will follow supper. Tournament prizes include prizes for the winning team, prizes for the most honest team, 2 closest to the pin prizes and 2 longest drive prizes. There will be door prizes for everyone plus prizes for the regular season team that finishes first in the standings.

Format:  Each foursome will be made up of 2 teams of two players.  The first 6 holes will be played using the Chapman System.  Holes 7 to 12 will be Better Ball.  Holes 13 – 18 will be Alternate Shot.

The Chapman system goes like this.  Both players on a team tee off, then they switch balls.  Player A plays player B’s drive, and vice – versa.  Each player then hits his or her second shot.  They then select the better of the second shots, and from that point until the ball is holed they play only one ball in an alternate shot format.   The player whose second ball was not chosen gets to play the third shot (so teams might sometimes choose the best ball after two shots based on who will get to hit the third).

Better Ball Definition:  A best ball competition in which the teams are comprised of two players.  The two players on the team each play their own ball through holes 7-12.  The low score, or better ball, among the two on each hole is the team’s score for that hole.

Alternate Shot Definition:  Alternate Shot is a competition format in which 2-perons teams alternate hitting the same ball.  Player A tees off, Player B hits the second shot, Player A hits the third shot, and so on until the ball is holed.  Tee balls are alternated so that the same player doesn’t hit every drive.

Rain Date: Not Applicable. It never rains on the golf course.

Please indicate the names of your foursome below and email it to david.mitchell@rogers.com.   If you don't have a foursome, complete your name(s) and we’ll try to make a foursome for you. It’s assumed that you’ll enter your regular season foursome in the tournament, but please confirm.   Please indicate your preferred T-Off time as well.
